I am reviewing the teen post apocalyptic fiction novel Arena One Slaverunners by Morgan Rice which is an excellent book that I downloaded for free from kindle. This novel is part of the Survival Trilogy and around 360 pages so a decent length. It is about a fictitious war between the Democrats and Republicans that have become extremists and most of the population has been wiped out in the ensuing nuclear and bioweapon war that followed 3 years earlier. 2 Girls one about 13 and the other a few years older survive somewhere a few hours drive north of New York. There father was a marine who has taught the older girl a little about survival and also how to handle herself in a fight. It is a remote place where they hunt to survive. The younger girl is kidnapped and the older girl teams up with a young lad to find her. He is also searching for someone who has been kidnapped. She ends up in a bloody battle in Arena One which is basically cage fighting but wins and gets her freedom. They also find the people they are looking for. There are also by then people hunting them down. They are in a boat chase down the Hudson River in New York.They hear of a mythic city in Canada where there are still survivors. I did really enjoy this novel which is a bit like the Hunger Games and I’m sure would make a great film. I do of course recommend it.
